Is it worthwhile fishing for carp with maggots? If so what's the best setup and method to use?
Absolutely! Carp have a varied diet and grubs like maggots are one of their natural food sources.
I would suggest maybe 6 maggots on a size 10 hook (depending on the weather and as many maggots as you can fit on). Trying mixing colours to see what works best.
Ledger your bunch of maggots on the bottom of the water and use something like a baitrunner and a bite alarm. You could also try using a quiver tip with a lighter setup if you want a little more excitement!
But yes, all in all maggots are an excellent all year round, all weather bait!
